Any youth 20 years old or younger as of January 1st of the current calendar year are invited to become a member of the MJSBA. To become a member, a Junior Membership Application must be completed and submitted with payment of dues to the MSBA office. Junior dues are to be paid annually to be considered an active member in good standing.
Benefits of membership include:
- Register and transfer sheep at member rates
- Receive MSBA publications and newsletters
- Participate in MSBA sponsored shows and events
- Eligibility to participate in Youth Ambassador Program
- Annual Scholarship eligibility

Lydia Lutman of Waterloo, Il. |

Lydia is the 18 year old daughter of Chris & Tricia Lutman of Waterloo, Illinois. She is a recent graduate of Waterloo High School where she participated heavily in FFA where she held the office of Vice President, played on the tennis team, participated with concert and marching band, was very involved with 4-H where she held the office of President of her club for 4 years and President of the Federation for 1 year. Lydia earned many awards for both FFA and 4-H throughout her high school career. The most recent will be awarded this fall at the National FFA Convention where she will earn her FFA American Degree. Lydia is currently enrolled at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale studying Animal Science.
Lydia has been attending shows and sales since she was very small and has participated with her family farm since she was a toddler, helping her Grandpa Richard and her parents care for the sheep. Although our family raises Suffolk, Montadales, and Natural Colored Sheep, Lydia had a special love for the Montadale breed from the start and purchased her first Montadale at the age of 3. Lydia exhibits her Montadales on the local, regional and national level and has improved her herd over the years. Lydia plans to continue breeding and raising Montadale sheep during college and continue the family tradition of raising quality Montadales. |

Cari Green of Troy, MO. |

Cari is the 18 year-old daughter of Brad and Nann Green of Troy Missouri. She is a recent graduate of Troy-Buchanan High School where she was involved in Marching & Concert Band, Varsity Basketball and Track, National Honor Society and Historian of the Troy FFA Chapter. Cari is also a member of Zion United Church of Christ participating in Women’s Choir and Youth Group. As part of her family farm and FFA SAE project, Cari raises Montadale, Crossbred, and Cotswold sheep as well as Boer goats. Her favorite part of raising and showing sheep has become the fitting of the sheep for show. She has participated and won the Missouri State Fair Youth Fitting (intermediate and senior classes) for three straight years. Cari has served as Montadale Ambassador for two years and exhibits her sheep at local county fairs in Missouri, the Missouri State Fair and the Jim & Dorothy Handy National Junior show at Sedalia and the Keith Chrome National Junior Show at NAILE. Cari is planning on attending the University of Missouri in the fall of 2019 and will major in Animal Science. |

Addison Wetzel of Franklin Grove, Il. |

Addison is the daughter of Gary and Lori Wetzel and is currently enrolled as a Senior at the University of Illinois studying Ag Business with a minor in Accounting.
Upon graduation Addison plans on a career in Ag Finance. While in College Addison has been extremely active in Collegiate Farm Bureau, Sigma Alpha and various ag related clubs. During her high school days, she was a big part of the FFA where she received numerous awards, held many positions and worked on several different committees. She was also a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society and participated in sports where she excelled as well. Addison was also a 10-year member of 4-H and served in multiple offices during her tenure.
Addison has been around the barn most all her life. She attended her first National Montadale Show at just two weeks old. As a junior member, Addison has participated in the All-American Junior Show and the Keith Crome National Junior Show. Addison appreciates the tradition behind the Montadales and hopes to return home after college to be a part of the Gorman Family Farm. Where she hopes to continue the family tradition of raising quality Montadales. |

LR is the son of Loyal and Deborah Burns and will be attending Linn Benton Community College this fall. LR will be majoring in Ag Business. LR intends on completing his Bachelor’s Degree at California State University, Fresno. Upon graduation LR plans on working in Ag Management specializing on the livestock side of the industry. Additionally, he wants to continue the family’s Montadale flock and would like to one day serve as a senior member on the Board of Directors.
LR has been extremely active in both 4-H and FFA throughout high school. He has held several offices in the organizations and has also won many awards. He was also a member of the Cross Country and Wrestling teams during high school. LR was also an Honor Roll Student.
LR was raised with Montadales attending his first show at only 2 months old at the Oregon State Fair. He and his parents have travelled many miles in order for LR to participate in shows throughout the country. He attributes his patience to working with the Montadales on the fitting stand. LR served a two-year term as the Junior Representative to our Board of Directors and also our Ambassador for two years. LR says these opportunities have given him experience in leadership positions that he knows will serve him well in the future. |

All-American Scholarship Application

These scholarships have been created by the Montadale Sheep Breeders Association and funded through the generosity of the Jacobsen Family of California, the Marshall Family of Illinois, the Burns Family of Oregon and the Fleck Family of South Dakota. The scholarships will be providing multiple junior members an opportunity to have all or part of the entry fees paid for the 2018 All American Junior Show. We ask that juniors who are applying for a scholarship return this form and video to the Association Office by APRIL 15, 2018. The committee will announce the winners on May 21st with disbursement of scholarships to immediately follow. We look forward to sorting through many applications from all ages. |

Futurity |
The Montadale Sheep Breeders Association sponsors and pays out cash awards to youth showing Futurity-Nominated Montadale ewe lambs that were purchased from a breeder at a designated Montadale sale. The breeder nomination fee of $20 is jackpotted and cash awards are prorated youth placing in the top 10. Points can begin accumulating at the Midwest Junior Preview Show and will end at the conclusion of the Keith Crome Junior Montadale Show in Lousiville. The Junior Montadale Ambassador program was started in 2014, replacing the National Queen Contest. The primary goal of this new program is to give all our juniors an opportunity to develop public speaking and salesmanship skills, in addition to promoting the Montadale breed. Participation is open to Junior Members ages 16-20 and the applicant/immediate family must own Montadales and be a current member. Applicants will be required to present a short 2 minute speech to the Selection Committee at the National Montadale Show & Sale with the winner(s) being announced at the Annual Banquet. Any junior meeting the requirements is encouraged to apply.
